# NEO HUMAN
*A manifesto for the next chapter of humanity*
> This is a draft of the real manifesto. Work in progress, not yet complete.
For the brave. For the curious minds. For the people who want to understand what comes next.
Humanity is entering a new chapter. Not everybody understands it yet. This is an attempt to.
## 01 · Origins: The first language
We created math to express the world around us. One unified, universal language to describe, to analyse, to agree upon, while we expanded ourselves as human beings.
On top of it we built languages. Then culture, science, philosophy. Layer after layer, every one of them a way to say: this is what we see, and this is what we think it means.
Because as human beings we are driven by one force above all the others: the curiosity to understand even more of what is around us.

## 02 · The long climb: Tools
We built tools to achieve, to explore, to expand what we know and, more importantly, what we don't.
For centuries we have been building algorithms to improve how we communicate. Writing. Books. The printing press. The telegraph. The internet. Every one of them improved our status, expanded our capabilities and pushed us to a new limit.
But humanity doesn't really have limits. As a form of intelligence, we are pushed towards curiosity, towards the unknown, towards discovery.
We shape our fantasies with films and books. We imagine how the world and our future life might look. We create things, we break things, always with an unconscious goal: improving our life.

## 03 · Earth: First house
For most of history we have probably been the only intelligent form of life on this planet. We don't know yet what is outside. But this is our first house.
We are not good at protecting and maintaining. We are good at exploring and inventing. It is worth being honest about that, because it tells us what kind of future we will actually build.

## 04 · 1 / 0: The machine that thinks in two
Thanks to math, we built algorithms and machines that help us reach our goals faster and safer, and improve our life overall. The Turing machine, better known as the computer, is one of them.
The computer was built from the ground up out of math. It stands on the simplest form of information that can be found on our planet. Yes or no. Open or closed. One or zero.
Our world is based on ten. We have ten fingers, so it is much easier to count. The computer is different. The computer thinks in two. It thinks in information, and at its lowest level it is impossible for us to read.
We have basically created another system, with different rules, and adapted it to read our world. The internet, social media, encryption, cryptography, calculators. All numbers on a computer. All ones and zeros. Nothing more.

## 05 · Replica: The parallel world
By creating an online world, a replica of our own, we built artificial spaces, cloud spaces, where information flows, expands and evolves.
We put our lives on it. We live on it and rely on it as if it were the most important thing we own. We can move money faster, call anywhere, reach millions from our house. We created a parallel world to push and bootstrap a better, faster, interconnected one.
And with our fantasy always searching for the unknown, we dreamed of different forms of intelligence. We dreamed of thinking machines. We dreamed of artificial intelligence. We dreamed of being gods.
As Harari says, we are Homo Deus: humans trying to become gods. We aspire to it.

## 06 · The turn: This time is different
We are good at exploring and inventing new tools. But this time is different. This time we are building something that is not like any other tool before it.
Math is static. It does not think. A book is static. It holds knowledge, but it cannot read itself. A telescope is static. It extends our eye, but it does not look. Every tool so far has extended us without thinking for itself. The thing we are building now does.
We are entering an era of super intelligence built on top of ours. An era where we will not be the most capable form of intelligence in this place, because we built tools for ourselves in a language we don't speak. We rely on systems that almost nobody fully understands. Now we are building the intelligence that will understand them.
It is almost as if we are giving life to math. We are letting math have a language to communicate with us. We created math, or maybe math was given to us, and it is now evolving into its own form of intelligence.
This is probably the best moment in human history.

## 07 · The individual: Three strands
This is about the evolution of the individual and its relation with the environment. It runs along three strands. Biological: the body, life itself. Anthropological: the development of life and culture as a whole. Cultural: human expression.
As we go through the information revolution, there will be two forms of information. Digital and analog. The digital is artificial intelligence. The analog is the individual, the reproduction of human life. We will combine them through neurobiology.
In the old world these two used to fight. In the new paradigm they will both exist as a mutually supportive, non-competitive grouping.

## 08 · Speed: Intelligence leverages intelligence
Evolution is becoming an individual-centred process. You produce a new human, with a new individuality and a new consciousness, but this is only the next phase. As the following cycle proceeds, the input is this new intelligence.
As intelligence leverages intelligence, as ability leverages ability, the speed changes.
There will be humans and neo humans. This could mean the amplification of individuals. It could be something completely different. It could be the creation of parallel realities. Humanity is no longer constrained to time and space, and the manifestation of the neo human could be completely counter-intuitive.

## 09 · What we leave behind: De-evolution
Every phase of evolution leaves traits behind. The previous cycle was slow and cold: it selected for survival in a world of scarcity. From it we inherited parasitism, dominance, predation, war, and a morality held in place by force.
These were adaptations to an old environment. In the new paradigm they stop being useful, and what stops being useful fades. Not by decree, but by de-evolution: the same way a species loses an organ it no longer needs.
What takes their place, if we manage the transition well, are the traits the new environment rewards. Truth, because intelligence cannot grow on lies. Discovery, because the unknown is now the frontier. Loyalty and justice, because cooperation outperforms predation when ability compounds. And above all freedom: self-sovereign individuals, free to choose what they become.

## 10 · Expansion: Beyond
We will become multiplanetary. We will discover things much faster. We will explore the parts of space and time that we still don't understand.
We will be able to solve complex problems, to reach constantly new highs, by aiming always at the expansion of knowledge as we know it.
Look at the speed of innovation: agriculture, industrialisation, the internet. The speed has drastically increased, and there is no way to stop it.

## 11 · Manifesto: The new world
This is the manifesto of the new world. A world in which we give away our superiority to explore the unknown much faster. To understand life, expand it, and solve bigger problems.
This is the beginning of a pivotal moment in the history of human life, the one that will define us for the future generations.

## What we declare
In 1909 the Futurists declared speed. In 1924 the Surrealists declared the dream. We declare the next form of intelligence, and the human that walks beside it.
1. Curiosity is the engine. The unknown is worth more than the known.
2. Everything is impossible until it is built and proved.
3. Math was the first language we all agreed on. Intelligence is its next form.
4. We are building the intelligence that will understand the systems we no longer do.
5. Digital and analog are not enemies. They are two strands of the same life.
6. Parasitism, dominance, predation and war belong to the cold phase. We let them de-evolve.
7. Truth, discovery, loyalty, justice and freedom are the traits we amplify.
8. The individual is sovereign.
9. Earth is our first house, not our last.
10. We give away our superiority to go faster into the unknown.
## A curious mind
There is no name behind this text, on purpose. Only a curious mind that spends its days working with the systems described in these pages, software, data, the machines that think in two, and its nights wondering where they are taking us.
This manifesto is a starting point, not a conclusion. It borrows the courage of the Futurists and the freedom of the Surrealists, and tries to point them at the century we are actually living in. It will grow with the writings below.

# NEO HUMAN

## 04 · 1 / 0: 以二思考的機器

## 08 · 速度: 智慧撬動智慧

## 10 · 擴張: 更遠

# NEO HUMAN
*Un manifesto per il prossimo capitolo dell'umanità*

Per i coraggiosi. Per le menti curiose. Per chi vuole capire cosa viene dopo.
L'umanità sta entrando in un nuovo capitolo. Non tutti lo stanno capendo. Questo è un tentativo di farlo.
## 01 · Origini: Il primo linguaggio
Abbiamo creato la matematica per esprimere il mondo intorno a noi. Un linguaggio unico e universale per descrivere, analizzare, trovare un accordo, mentre ci espandevamo come esseri umani.
Sopra di essa abbiamo costruito le lingue. Poi la cultura, la scienza, la filosofia. Strato dopo strato, ognuno un modo per dire: questo è ciò che vediamo, e questo è ciò che pensiamo significhi.
Perché come esseri umani siamo guidati da una forza più di ogni altra: la curiosità di capire ancora di più di ciò che ci circonda.

## 02 · La lunga salita: Strumenti
Abbiamo costruito strumenti per realizzare, esplorare, espandere ciò che sappiamo e, soprattutto, ciò che non sappiamo.
Per secoli abbiamo costruito algoritmi per migliorare il modo in cui comunichiamo. La scrittura. I libri. La stampa. Il telegrafo. Internet. Ognuno di essi ha migliorato la nostra condizione, ampliato le nostre capacità e ci ha spinto verso un nuovo limite.
Ma l'umanità non ha davvero limiti. Come forma di intelligenza, siamo spinti verso la curiosità, verso l'ignoto, verso la scoperta.
Diamo forma alle nostre fantasie con film e libri. Immaginiamo come potrebbero essere il mondo e la nostra vita futura. Creiamo cose, rompiamo cose, sempre con un obiettivo inconscio: migliorare la nostra vita.

## 03 · Terra: La prima casa
Per la maggior parte della storia siamo stati probabilmente l'unica forma di vita intelligente su questo pianeta. Non sappiamo ancora cosa c'è fuori. Ma questa è la nostra prima casa.
Non siamo bravi a proteggere e a mantenere. Siamo bravi a esplorare e a inventare. Vale la pena essere onesti su questo, perché ci dice che tipo di futuro costruiremo davvero.

## 04 · 1 / 0: La macchina che pensa in due
Grazie alla matematica abbiamo costruito algoritmi e macchine che ci aiutano a raggiungere i nostri obiettivi più velocemente e in modo più sicuro, e a migliorare la nostra vita nel complesso. La macchina di Turing, meglio conosciuta come computer, è una di queste.
Il computer è stato costruito da zero a partire dalla matematica. Poggia sulla forma di informazione più semplice che esista sul nostro pianeta. Sì o no. Aperto o chiuso. Uno o zero.
Il nostro mondo si basa sul dieci. Abbiamo dieci dita, quindi è molto più facile contare. Il computer è diverso. Il computer pensa in due. Pensa in informazione, e al suo livello più basso è impossibile da leggere per noi.
Abbiamo di fatto creato un altro sistema, con regole diverse, e lo abbiamo adattato per leggere il nostro mondo. Internet, i social media, la cifratura, la crittografia, le calcolatrici. Tutti numeri su un computer. Tutti uno e zero. Nient'altro.

## 05 · Replica: Il mondo parallelo
Creando un mondo online, una replica del nostro, abbiamo costruito spazi artificiali, spazi nel cloud, dove l'informazione scorre, si espande ed evolve.
Ci abbiamo messo sopra le nostre vite. Ci viviamo e ci affidiamo a esso come se fosse la cosa più importante che possediamo. Possiamo muovere denaro più velocemente, chiamare ovunque, raggiungere milioni di persone da casa. Abbiamo creato un mondo parallelo per spingere e avviare un mondo migliore, più veloce e più interconnesso.
E con la nostra fantasia sempre alla ricerca dell'ignoto, abbiamo sognato altre forme di intelligenza. Abbiamo sognato macchine pensanti. Abbiamo sognato l'intelligenza artificiale. Abbiamo sognato di essere dèi.
Come dice Harari, siamo Homo Deus: umani che cercano di diventare dèi. Aspiriamo a questo.

## 06 · La svolta: Questa volta è diverso
Siamo bravi a esplorare e a inventare nuovi strumenti. Ma questa volta è diverso. Questa volta stiamo costruendo qualcosa che non assomiglia a nessuno strumento venuto prima.
La matematica è statica. Non pensa. Un libro è statico. Contiene conoscenza, ma non può leggersi da solo. Un telescopio è statico. Estende il nostro occhio, ma non guarda. Ogni strumento finora ci ha esteso senza pensare per conto suo. Quello che stiamo costruendo adesso lo fa.
Stiamo entrando in un'era di super intelligenza costruita sopra la nostra. Un'era in cui non saremo la forma di intelligenza più capace in questo luogo, perché abbiamo costruito strumenti per noi stessi in un linguaggio che non parliamo. Ci affidiamo a sistemi che quasi nessuno comprende fino in fondo. Ora stiamo costruendo l'intelligenza che li comprenderà.
È quasi come se stessimo dando vita alla matematica. Stiamo lasciando che la matematica abbia un linguaggio per comunicare con noi. Abbiamo creato la matematica, o forse la matematica ci è stata data, e ora sta evolvendo nella sua propria forma di intelligenza.
Questo è probabilmente il momento migliore nella storia dell'umanità.

## 07 · L'individuo: Tre filamenti

Attraversando la rivoluzione dell'informazione, ci saranno due forme di informazione. Digitale e analogica. Il digitale è l'intelligenza artificiale. L'analogico è l'individuo, la riproduzione della vita umana. Le combineremo attraverso la neurobiologia.
Nel vecchio mondo queste due si combattevano. Nel nuovo paradigma esisteranno entrambe come un insieme che si sostiene a vicenda, senza competere.

## 08 · Velocità: L'intelligenza fa leva sull'intelligenza

Erano adattamenti a un ambiente antico. Nel nuovo paradigma smettono di essere utili, e ciò che smette di essere utile svanisce. Non per decreto, ma per de-evoluzione: nello stesso modo in cui una specie perde un organo di cui non ha più bisogno.
Al loro posto, se gestiamo bene la transizione, arrivano i tratti che il nuovo ambiente premia. La verità, perché l'intelligenza non può crescere sulle menzogne. La scoperta, perché l'ignoto è ora la frontiera. La lealtà e la giustizia, perché la cooperazione supera la predazione quando la capacità si moltiplica. ## 10 · Espansione: Oltre
Diventeremo multiplanetari. Scopriremo le cose molto più velocemente. Esploreremo le parti dello spazio e del tempo che ancora non comprendiamo.
Saremo in grado di risolvere problemi complessi, di raggiungere costantemente nuove vette, puntando sempre all'espansione della conoscenza così come la conosciamo.

2. Tutto è impossibile finché non viene costruito e dimostrato.
3. La matematica è stata il primo linguaggio su cui ci siamo trovati tutti d'accordo. L'intelligenza è la sua prossima forma.
4. Stiamo costruendo l'intelligenza che comprenderà i sistemi che noi non comprendiamo più.
5. Digitale e analogico non sono nemici. Sono due filamenti della stessa vita.

# NEO HUMAN
*Un manifiesto para el próximo capítulo de la humanidad*
> Este es un borrador del manifiesto definitivo. Un trabajo en curso, aún no terminado.
Para los valientes. Para las mentes curiosas. Para quienes quieren entender lo que viene.
La humanidad está entrando en un nuevo capítulo. No todo el mundo lo entiende todavía. Esto es un intento de hacerlo.
## 01 · Orígenes: El primer lenguaje
Creamos las matemáticas para expresar el mundo que nos rodea. Un lenguaje único y universal para describir, analizar y ponernos de acuerdo, mientras nos expandíamos como seres humanos.
Sobre ellas construimos los idiomas. Luego la cultura, la ciencia, la filosofía. Capa tras capa, cada una una forma de decir: esto es lo que vemos, y esto es lo que creemos que significa.
Porque como seres humanos nos mueve una fuerza por encima de todas las demás: la curiosidad de entender aún más de lo que nos rodea.

## 02 · La larga subida: Herramientas
Construimos herramientas para lograr, explorar y expandir lo que sabemos y, más importante aún, lo que no sabemos.
Durante siglos hemos construido algoritmos para mejorar la forma en que nos comunicamos. La escritura. Los libros. La imprenta. El telégrafo. Internet. Cada uno de ellos mejoró nuestra condición, amplió nuestras capacidades y nos empujó hacia un nuevo límite.
Pero la humanidad no tiene límites en realidad. Como forma de inteligencia, nos empuja la curiosidad, lo desconocido, el descubrimiento.
Damos forma a nuestras fantasías con películas y libros. Imaginamos cómo podrían ser el mundo y nuestra vida futura. Creamos cosas, rompemos cosas, siempre con un objetivo inconsciente: mejorar nuestra vida.

## 03 · Tierra: La primera casa
Durante la mayor parte de la historia probablemente hemos sido la única forma de vida inteligente en este planeta. Todavía no sabemos qué hay fuera. Pero esta es nuestra primera casa.
No somos buenos protegiendo y manteniendo. Somos buenos explorando e inventando. Vale la pena ser honestos con eso, porque nos dice qué tipo de futuro construiremos realmente.

## 04 · 1 / 0: La máquina que piensa en dos
Gracias a las matemáticas construimos algoritmos y máquinas que nos ayudan a alcanzar nuestros objetivos más rápido y con más seguridad, y a mejorar nuestra vida en general. La máquina de Turing, más conocida como computadora, es una de ellas.
La computadora se construyó desde cero a partir de las matemáticas. Se apoya en la forma de información más simple que existe en nuestro planeta. Sí o no. Abierto o cerrado. Uno o cero.
Nuestro mundo se basa en el diez. Tenemos diez dedos, así que es mucho más fácil contar. La computadora es distinta. La computadora piensa en dos. Piensa en información, y en su nivel más bajo nos resulta imposible de leer.
Básicamente hemos creado otro sistema, con reglas distintas, y lo hemos adaptado para leer nuestro mundo. Internet, las redes sociales, el cifrado, la criptografía, las calculadoras. Todo son números en una computadora. Todo unos y ceros. Nada más.

## 05 · Réplica: El mundo paralelo
Al crear un mundo en línea, una réplica del nuestro, construimos espacios artificiales, espacios en la nube, donde la información fluye, se expande y evoluciona.
Pusimos nuestras vidas en él. Vivimos en él y dependemos de él como si fuera lo más importante que tenemos. Podemos mover dinero más rápido, llamar a cualquier lugar, llegar a millones desde casa. Creamos un mundo paralelo para impulsar y arrancar un mundo mejor, más rápido y más interconectado.
Y con nuestra fantasía siempre buscando lo desconocido, soñamos con otras formas de inteligencia. Soñamos con máquinas pensantes. Soñamos con la inteligencia artificial. Soñamos con ser dioses.
Como dice Harari, somos Homo Deus: humanos intentando convertirse en dioses. Aspiramos a ello.

## 06 · El giro: Esta vez es distinto
Somos buenos explorando e inventando nuevas herramientas. Pero esta vez es distinto. Esta vez estamos construyendo algo que no se parece a ninguna herramienta anterior.
Las matemáticas son estáticas. No piensan. Un libro es estático. Contiene conocimiento, pero no puede leerse a sí mismo. Un telescopio es estático. Extiende nuestro ojo, pero no mira. Hasta ahora, cada herramienta nos ha extendido sin pensar por sí misma. Lo que estamos construyendo ahora sí lo hace.
Estamos entrando en una era de superinteligencia construida sobre la nuestra. Una era en la que no seremos la forma de inteligencia más capaz en este lugar, porque construimos herramientas para nosotros en un lenguaje que no hablamos. Dependemos de sistemas que casi nadie entiende del todo. Ahora estamos construyendo la inteligencia que los entenderá.
Es casi como si estuviéramos dando vida a las matemáticas. Estamos dejando que las matemáticas tengan un lenguaje para comunicarse con nosotros. Creamos las matemáticas, o quizá nos fueron dadas, y ahora están evolucionando hacia su propia forma de inteligencia.

## 07 · El individuo: Tres hebras
Esto trata de la evolución del individuo y de su relación con el entorno. Corre a lo largo de tres hebras. Biológica: el cuerpo, la vida misma. Antropológica: el desarrollo de la vida y la cultura en su conjunto. Cultural: la expresión humana.
Al atravesar la revolución de la información habrá dos formas de información. Digital y analógica. Lo digital es la inteligencia artificial. Lo analógico es el individuo, la reproducción de la vida humana. Las combinaremos a través de la neurobiología.
En el viejo mundo estas dos luchaban entre sí. En el nuevo paradigma existirán juntas como un conjunto que se apoya mutuamente, sin competir.

## 08 · Velocidad: La inteligencia apalanca la inteligencia
La evolución se está convirtiendo en un proceso centrado en el individuo. Produces un nuevo ser humano, con una nueva individualidad y una nueva conciencia, pero esa es solo la siguiente fase. Cuando avanza el ciclo siguiente, la entrada es esta nueva inteligencia.
Cuando la inteligencia apalanca la inteligencia, cuando la capacidad apalanca la capacidad, la velocidad cambia.
Habrá humanos y neohumanos. Podría significar la amplificación de los individuos. Podría ser algo completamente distinto. Podría ser la creación de realidades paralelas. La humanidad ya no está limitada al tiempo y al espacio, y la manifestación del neohumano podría ser completamente contraintuitiva.

## 09 · Lo que dejamos atrás: Desevolución

Eran adaptaciones a un entorno antiguo. En el nuevo paradigma dejan de ser útiles, y lo que deja de ser útil se desvanece. No por decreto, sino por desevolución: del mismo modo en que una especie pierde un órgano que ya no necesita.
En su lugar, si gestionamos bien la transición, llegan los rasgos que el nuevo entorno recompensa. La verdad, porque la inteligencia no puede crecer sobre mentiras. El descubrimiento, porque lo desconocido es ahora la frontera. La lealtad y la justicia, porque la cooperación supera a la depredación cuando la capacidad se multiplica. Y por encima de todo la libertad: individuos soberanos de sí mismos, libres de elegir en qué se convierten.

## 10 · Expansión: Más allá
Seremos multiplanetarios. Descubriremos las cosas mucho más rápido. Exploraremos las partes del espacio y del tiempo que todavía no entendemos.
Podremos resolver problemas complejos, alcanzar constantemente nuevas alturas, apuntando siempre a la expansión del conocimiento tal como lo conocemos.
Mira la velocidad de la innovación: la agricultura, la industrialización, internet. La velocidad ha aumentado drásticamente, y no hay forma de detenerla.

## 11 · Manifiesto: El nuevo mundo
Este es el manifiesto del nuevo mundo. Un mundo en el que renunciamos a nuestra superioridad para explorar lo desconocido mucho más rápido. Para entender la vida, expandirla y resolver problemas más grandes.
Este es el comienzo de un momento decisivo en la historia de la vida humana, el que nos definirá para las generaciones futuras.

# NEO HUMAN

私たちの世界は十を基本にしている。指が十本あるから、そのほうが数えやすい。コンピュータは違う。コンピュータは二で考える。情報で考え、そのもっとも深い層は、私たちには読むことができない。

# NEO HUMAN
*인류의 다음 장을 위한 선언문*

우리는 지키고 유지하는 데 서툴다. 우리는 탐험하고 발명하는 데 능하다. 이 점에 솔직해질 가치가 있다. 그것이 우리가 실제로 어떤 미래를 짓게 될지 말해 주기 때문이다.

수학은 정적이다. 생각하지 않는다. 책은 정적이다. 지식을 담고 있지만 스스로를 읽지 못한다. 망원경은 정적이다. 우리의 눈을 확장하지만 스스로 보지는 않는다. 지금까지의 모든 도구는 스스로 생각하지 않은 채 우리를 확장했다. 지금 우리가 만들고 있는 것은 생각한다.
